Mothers living near busy roads ‘have smaller babies’
Exposure to traffic fumes from living near a busy road may increase a pregnant
woman’s chances of having a small baby. A study found that two kinds of
pollution produced by motor vehicles – sooty particles and nitrogen dioxide
– affected foetus development.
