At 6pm in the woods of southern Finland, the scene looks like something
Hallmark might have conjured up for Christmas. Snow covers every conceivable
surface. The yellowy bark of birches glows in the moonlight. And the
outlines of fir trees are silhouetted against a full moon. What isn’t
expected is a young glassmaker’s house on the edge of this little village of
Nuutajärvi.
