When Sally Rae moved into her husband Stuart’s 1930s Edinburgh bungalow after
their marriage in 2005, she was swithering about what to do with her flat —
should she sell up or keep it? The catalyst for selling came when it became
clear that the bungalow was crumbling at the back. Rae decided to invest in
her new family home. “What’s the point of living in a house that’s falling
down, yet keeping another property just to make money?” she says.
