For years, Sarah Piper had to bulk-buy Christmas trees. With four holiday lets
on the go, by early December the Cornish farmer’s wife turned property
developer would be flat out, draping holly over four fireplaces, carting in
four loads of logs and baking four batches of welcoming mince pies. “I had
help,” she says, “but it was hard work, especially on top of Christmas
itself.”
