I am from Horizontina, a small town in southern Brazil. I’m from a big family,
and we never travelled to Rio because it was so far away, a trip of six
hours in the car, followed by a three-hour plane ride: too much of a journey
for all eight of us. I was 13 when I first had the opportunity to go there,
and it happened at a special time in my life. The trip was planned as an
excursion by the modelling course I was on in Horizontina. There were about
50 of us girls travelling together, including my mom and two of my sisters,
and it took us 28 hours by bus to get there, with one stop on the way.
