This month, for the third time in four years, I have a child starting at primary school. The contrast with the first time could hardly be greater. I now know the school is good. I have a rough idea of what my daughter will be getting up to in reception class and I no longer have to stand all alone at picking-up time looking like Daddy No Mates.
